Infrared Sauna
An Infrared sauna is usually a wooden box or room that contains several infrared heaters that produce (IR) infrared radiation at the lower frequency of sunlight without the harmful ultraviolet rays. At the lower frequency, sunlight changes into gentle infrared rays which benefit the body through a process called conversion. The temperature is much cooler than traditional saunas, ranging from 110 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This permits longer stays resulting in overall sweating. Length of stay depends on your body, but usually 30 minutes produce a good total-body sweat.

Research has proven that the body safely absorbs penetration of infrared rays up to 1 ¾ inches into the body. When the frequency of infrared becomes the same inside and outside the body, tissues and organs resonate and improve cell function by increasing blood circulation. This in turn affects skin health and stimulates the immune system, allowing effortless removal of stored toxins through perspiration, reducing stress and fatigue.

Dr. Sherry Rogers says in her book “Detoxify or Die” that accumulated toxic lead in the human body is responsible for all disease not attributable to bacteria or virus. Regularly sweating in an infrared sauna can help decrease the toxic load and contribute to better health and vitality.

The Reconnection
Reconnective Healing is a form of healing that is here on the planet for the very first time. Colon Hydrotherapy
Colon Hydrotherapy or Colon Irrigation is an alternative therapy used to cleanse, maintain and restore optimum colon health.

The practice of colon cleansing is by no means a new idea as documented by literature through history. Today’s colon cleansing generally involves the use of low-pressure water devices and is administered by a trained colonic therapist.

At 20 West Spa our equipment is the Dotolo Toxygen-Model BBC-UV, which hydrates the entire colon without the use of drugs or chemicals of any kind. This machine has 2 filters and a UV light for sterilization of the water. We have installed a water purification/filtration system on our water supply for added client protection. Our therapists, also licensed massage therapists, maintain the dignity and comfort of our clients throughout the treatment and use massage, Reiki and castor oil hot packs to obtain maximum results.

The focus of colon hydrotherapy is in fact hydration. No on consistently drinks enough water and our diets have been compromised resulting in colon malfunction. We all should eliminate wastes about an hour after each meal. Sadly, most of us eliminate once daily at best. Hydration of the colon “jump starts” it and proper functioning is resumed over time. Adequate water intake together with fresh food maintains a healthy colon.

For people with good regularity, we recommend 4 colonics per year, one with the beginning of each season. For sluggish colons we recommend 3 colonic, 3 days in a row and then monthly until good regularity is achieved.

Skin Absorption and Earth Clays
The skin is our largest organ and is the first defense against the environment. Generally thought to repel liquids and to expel wastes, we now know that it can absorb as well. Once a substance gets through the outermost layer, the epidermis, there is nothing more to stop it from going into the tissues of muscles and organs. Children, women and the elderly are the most susceptible to skin absorption.

This is not always harmful, as patches provide a steady supply of medication to the body with effective speed. When combined with water as in a bath, other beneficial substances can be drawn into the body for comfort and relief, act as an invisible shield or actually pull toxins from the body.

Harm comes from toxic vapors and substances in our environment that contact the skin and lodge in regions of the body they find easy to enter. A child’s skin is immature and sensitive; women usually have a higher ration of body fat than men, which tends to aid in the accumulation of chemicals; and the elderly often experience a mild breaking down of the skin, reducing its efficiency as a barrier. All human skin, however, will readily transport toxic chemicals into the body under the right conditions, i.e. heat, dilute chemicals and chemicals combined with other substances commonly found in the household water.

Unfortunately, some creams and salves designed for the skin contain ingredients which are toxic. It is an inconvenience to put on gloves when using household chemicals or pumping gas, so most of us don’t. We experience chemical fumes when we walk down a busy street or shop in a lumber store. It is difficult to avoid some level of contamination.

The miracle of earth clays is that some them push and some of the pull. The “pusher” clays enter the skin, carrying trace minerals and other beneficial elements with them, while the “puller” clays have the power to extract heavy metals and other toxins from the body though the skin.
